Farmhand Position

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and motivated Farmhand to join our Merino breeding and lamb finishing business.

This is a hands-on position suited to someone with around 2 years of farm experience, who enjoys working with livestock and is keen to develop their skills and take on greater responsibility over time.

The successful applicant will be someone who is honest, dependable and willing to work, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

Sheep Husbandry

• General sheep handling and husbandry

• Stock movements and yard work

• Feeding and monitoring livestock

• Drenching and vaccinations

• Assisting with lamb finishing and general flock management

Farm Maintenance

• Fencing and fence repairs

• Maintaining water pipes and watering systems

• Basic welding and general repairs

• Spot spraying and weed control

• General property maintenance as required

Tractor & Machinery Work

• Tractor operation for seeding

• Spreading fertiliser

• Spraying

• General machinery and farm work as required

What We're Looking For

• Approximately 2 years' practical farm experience

• Previous sheep handling experience

• Reliable and honest work ethic

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Current driver's licence

• Good attention to detail and care for livestock

• Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities

• Practical, hands-on approach to farm work

Remuneration & Accommodation

Salary/wages will be negotiated based on experience and skills. On-farm cottage accommodation is available as part of the position, with further details to be discussed with the successful applicant.
